Profile shapes

Profile drawings show differences in rib layout and pocket shape. Final selection requires the specified dimensions, base belt and machine clearances.

Open chevron — actual profile drawing excerpt

Open chevron

Separated V ribs with gaps between the rows.

Continuous chevron — actual profile drawing excerpt

Continuous chevron

A continuous V across the profiled width.

Split chevron — actual profile drawing excerpt

Split chevron

A centre opening divides each chevron.

Segmented pocket — actual profile drawing excerpt

Segmented pocket

Separate ribs form a pocket-shaped pattern.

Y profile — actual profile drawing excerpt

Y profile

Branched ribs with interruptions in the pattern.

Chevron with centre ribs — actual profile drawing excerpt

Chevron with centre ribs

Interrupted ribs and transverse centre elements.

Confirm the approved profile drawing before ordering. Belt width, profiled width, height, pitch, clear edges and direction all matter; do not scale these illustrations for manufacture.

Chevron and cleat selection

Profile and material characteristics

Pattern, height and pitch influence how material is retained on the incline and released at discharge. State the material, lump size, moisture and conveyor angle. A taller cleat is not automatically a better replacement.

Base-belt construction

The carcass, cover grade, cover thickness and splice still carry the loading and bending requirements. A pattern match alone does not establish the correct replacement belt.

Clear edges and centre gaps

Record the clear strip along each edge and any centre gap. These dimensions need to suit the side sealing and the machine’s supports; do not assume a full-width pattern will fit.

Profile construction and joint layout

Moulded profiles and separately attached cleats are different constructions. Agree the profile drawing, attachment method, splice zone and joint layout for the selected belt.

CIVIL & ROADWORKS

Road-profiling and milling-machine belts

Replacement specifications include the machine identification, conveyor position, base-belt construction, cleat pattern and joint.

Machine identification

State the machine make, model and serial number, then identify the pickup, transfer or discharge conveyor. A machine can use different belts in different positions.

Material and belt damage

Include the milled material, normal operating conditions and whether the problem is cover wear, cleat loss, edge damage, mistracking or joint failure. Cold-milled pavement and hot-asphalt production are not the same temperature application.

Pulley and profile clearances

Record the pulley diameters, return-roller arrangement and available clearance around the profile. Check the belt path through folding, slewing or other moving sections where fitted.

Belt replacement requirements

Confirm the part or drawing reference, finished length, joint type, installation access and machine availability. Inspect guide and support rollers and the transfer area before fitting the new belt.

Replacement belt enquiry details

DetailInclude
Machine identificationMake, model, serial number, part reference and exact conveyor position.
Belt dimensionsWidth, finished endless length or open length, thickness and existing designation.
Cleat layoutPattern, height, pitch, profiled width, left/right clear edges and belt travel direction.
Joint and machine clearancesVulcanised, welded or mechanical joint as applicable; splice zone, pulleys, support and return path.
EvidenceOverall machine/conveyor view, belt marking, plan and side views of cleats, joint and damaged areas.

Take measurements and photographs only where safe access and the required isolation are in place. A machine model or a similar-looking pattern alone is not confirmation of fit.

Conveyor belt enquiries

A current designation, photograph or drawing helps identify the replacement. Unknown measurements can remain blank.
