Pulley-supported cleaning

The Primary Head Cleaner removes adhering material while the belt is supported by the head pulley. It suits installations requiring individually supported tungsten tips and replaceable suspension-arm components.

How the assembly works

Each tip is secured to a suspension arm. The cushion allows local movement as the belt passes. Arm size, tip angle, pole position and tension must be matched rather than adjusted independently by eye.

Tip retention and belt protection

Check tip retention and alignment at every service. A loose or dislodged segment can expose an edge to the belt; a sound tip cannot compensate for a failed cushion or damaged arm.

Arm, cushion and tip

The arm must place the tip at the specified contact angle without running out of adjustment. Inspect for distortion, corrosion, cracked attachments and unwanted movement before fitting new tips.

Arm size and adjustment

SS, S, M, L and LL identify arm sizes. Confirm the required size and variant, and check the matching cushion before substituting an arm.

Check the pole dimensions

Confirm cleaning coverage, mounting span and end fit before substituting a pole. Check pole diameter, overall length, cleaning width, end assemblies and the condition of both supports.

Construction

Moulded polyurethane suspension-arm sections provide a resilient cleaning edge on the primary pole arrangement. They are not the large contoured replacement blades used on an XHD primary slide frame.

Application

Consider this configuration where a polyurethane contact surface is preferred. The arm size and spring-tensioning arrangement still need to match the pulley, belt and mounting position.

Inspection points

Check the moulded arm section for cracking, distortion and uneven wear. Check the pivot mounts and spring movement before resetting the cleaner. Mechanical fasteners and reverse travel require a suitable assembly.
